   2.The financial report for 2006-2008 was presented by the Treasurer, Dr.      Ahmad Sukari  Halim. 

      Balance carried forward from 2006:                     USD 9,941.02

      Income:                                                                      1,091.52

      Expenditure:                                                                  400.00   

     BALANCE AS ON 31ST MARCH 2008              10,632.54

   3.The following were elected as the new office bearers for 2008-2010:

      1st Vice President:               Dr. Yong-Koo Kang (Korea)

      2nd Vice President:              Dr. Menkher Manjas (Indonesia)

      3rd Vice President:               Ms. Sharon Bryce (Australia)

   3.RESOLVED that in the future only members who have served as Secretary General for a minimum of one term will be eligible to serve as Vice President. Further resolved that appropriate amendments be made in the Constitution. Proposed by: Astrid Lobo Gajiwala  Seconded by: Nazly Hilmy 

   4.Dr. Norimah Yusof made an urgent plea for news items from different banks and Regions.  It was decided to shift to electronic newsletters as these are easier to put together and circulate and also more economical.  This was unanimously approved.  It was also agreed that the newsletter could be uploaded on the APASTB website.

   5.The APASTB website is functional at www apastb.net  

   6.The APASTB Standards have been published in the Text Book “Radiation in Tissue Banking” edited by Aziz Nather, Norimah Yusof and Nazly Hilmy, 2008.

     Soft copies of the Standards will be made available to life members free of cost and sold to non-members for a fee.   

     The Standards will be updated by a Standards Sub-committee comprising of the following members:

     The updated Standards would be made available on the APASTB website for a fee.  

   7.Dr. Rudi von Versen was awarded honorary membership to APASTB at the World Congress on Tissue Banking held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2008.

 

   8.Dr. Michael Strong was awarded honorary membership to APASTB at the World Congress on Tissue Banking held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2008.

 

   9. The following awards were given at the closing ceremony:

       Young Scientist Awards                 2

       Best Poster Awards                      3

     These were sponsored by the Organising Committee of the World   Congress. 

   10.The following members were elected to represent APASTB at the World Union of Tissue and Cell Banking Associations meeting held during the World Congress on Tissue Banking held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2008:

        Aziz Nather 

   15. Accreditation of tissue banks was deferred till Tissue Banks implement the APASTB Standards. 

   16.  The schedules for the next meetings were passed as follows:

   17.  The President concluded the meeting with a vote of thanks to Dr. Hasim Mohamad, Dr. Norimah Yusof, Dr. Sukari Halim Ahmad, Dr. Suzina Sheikh Abdul Hamid and all the members of the Organising Committee for such an excellent Conference. Their warm and generous hospitality, and the quality of the scientific programme was much appreciated.

        All were invited to attend the next meeting in Indonesia in June 2010.
